How to set up automatic deletion of uploaded files

Dropshare 6.0 and newer

To automatically delete uploaded files after a certain amount of time, set up Automatic File Deletion.

Open the Settings, navigate to Uploads and enable the Expert Mode in the top right.

A new section "Deletion" will appear and allow you to manage automatic upload deletion preferences.

Set up automatic file deletion

You can select to automatically delete uploaded files from either your upload history, or from your upload history and from the server where the file was uploaded to.

You can select between 1, 3, 5, 7, 30, 90 or 365 days to delete uploaded files after.

How does this work?

Uploaded files will be automatically deleted from the upload history and optionally also from the server after the selected amount of time. This only works while Dropshare is running and if the connection that was used to upload the file still exists, is active and supports file deletion. Please note that this might irreversibly delete the files from the server.

When Dropshare is not running while a file expires, it will be deleted the next time Dropshare starts and your Mac has internet connectivity. Dropshare will check periodically for expired files while running.

Automatic File Deletion can be configured per upload connection.
