How to enable AI generated filenames for screen shots

Dropshare 5.42 or newer

Dropshare is able to generate a descriptive filename for screen shots, e.g. for making it easier to identify them in your upload history. GPT-4 with Vision is used to accomplish this.

To enable AI generated filenames for screen shots, a personal OpenAI API key is required. OpenAI pricing applies (a subscription to OpenAI is not required to use the API - instead, tokens can be purchased individually for API usage).

Get OpenAI API Key

First, sign up for an OpenAI account here if you don't have an OpenAI account already. Then, sign in to your account and go to the billing preferences. Add to your credit balance to be able to access GPT-4 with Vision. Finally, to go API keys and create an API key for Dropshare.

Costs

Generating a file name costs currently between 1000 - 1500 tokens per image when high detail is used for more precise descriptive results, or 120-250 tokens when low detail is used. When enabled, every screen shot taken is uploaded to OpenAI for image processing. See data retention.

Dropshare is not responsible for costs that occur when using OpenAI language models. Use at own risk.
