Dropshare requires several system permissions for all features to work. You can choose which permissions you want to grant based on the features that you want to use.
Permissions can be managed in the macOS System Settings under Privacy & Security. With Dropshare 5.27 and newer, there is a Permission section in the app preferences as well.
Screen Recording |
To use screen capture features (screen shots and screen recordings), please grant the Screen Recording permission. macOS 15+ might ask in regularly whether Dropshare can still record your screen. Accessibility | To use Dropshare Zone (a floating upload area on screen that appears when dragging a file, can be configured in Uploads preferences), please grant the Accessibility permission. No longer required since Dropshare 5.40. |
Input Monitoring | To show pressed keyboard shortcuts on screen during screen recordings (can be enabled when starting a screen recording), please grant the Input Monitoring shortcut. |
Camera | To show your webcam video during screen recordings (can be enabled when starting a screen recording), please grant the Camera permission. |
Microphone | To add your microphone audio to screen recordings (can be enabled when starting a screen recording), please grant the Microphone permission. |
If you want to grant multiple permissions at once, it is recommended to restart Dropshare manually afterwards, since macOS will ask you to restart the app for each permission granted.
